Overview of the Canon EOS Cameras
The Canon EOS Camera range really has something for everyone.
The range starts off really with the EOS 3000V SLR for just over the £100 mark, right up to the EOS 1Ds Mark II for a little over £4000.
Canon EOS 1DS Mark II
Contained in the robust water-resistant magnesium alloy body of the Canon EOS D1s is a fantastic 16.7 Mgapixel full frame CMOS sensor. It produces files which convert to 50Mb TIFF (uncompressed) with a colour depth of 24 bits. To eliminate false colours it features a built-in low-pass filter.
Included is a New Digital Photo Professional software package, allowing the high-speed processing of lossless RAW files for greater control. To enable complete connectivity, the camera's interfaces include FireWire and Video Out. Plus, a USB port is included for direct printing.
The EOS-1Ds Mark II is EF lens and EX-series Speedlite compatible.
Canon EOS 5D
The EOS 5D also boasts a newly developed, high-speed and durable shutter unit that was designed to meet the demanding requirements of a full frame sensor in a relatively compact body.
The EOS 5D's full-frame CMOS sensor records 4,368 x 2,912 pixels-that's 12.8 Megapixels. The same size as a 35mm image on a traditional camera, the sensor operates without a conversion factor.
The EOS 5D has been designed to provide the photographer with instant feedback, saving valuable time when reviewing images. A new 2.5 inch LCD screen with approximately 230,000 pixels not only displays more information, it can be viewed at a far greater angle than many other conventional LCD screens.
Canon EOS 30D
The Canon EOS 30D has an 8.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor that provides the sensitivity needed for clean, detailed images with fine colour gradation. The 22.5 x 15mm sensor size adds an effective 1.6x increase to the focal length of EF lenses.
The EOS 30D camera delivers fast 5 fps shooting for continuous bursts of up to 30 large JPEG images.
Complete with a large LCD Illuminated by 6 LEDs, the bright 2.5" 230K pixel LCD is viewable from almost all directions.
Canon EOS 400D
The EOS 400D incorporates a number of developments over the EOS 350D. Resolution increases from 8.0 to 10.1 Megapixels, using the superior hi-sensitivity, hi-speed, low-noise CMOS technology now found in all six EOS Digital models.
The AF system expands from 7 to 9-point, with a highly sensitive f/2.8 center point for exceptional performance in low light.
The 2.5 hi-resolution LCD is the brightest in the EOS range and now displays all of key shooting and user interface information along with image playback.
Canon EOS 350D
The Canon EOS 350D Digital SLR employs Canon's acclaimed CMOS technology, for outstanding image quality and 8.0 Megapixel resolution.
The responsive 3 frame per second, 14 frame burst performance and instant 0.2 second start up time means you'll always be ready to shoot.
The EOS 350D has a powerful pop-up flash that offers plenty of lighting flexibility. The camera is compatible with the entire EX Speedlite flash range, including the Speedlite 580EX.
